The Asian Ceremony ....
Made with WebSketch
I am Chinese and she's Vietnamese. It's all good, because both cultures share many values - like food, family, friends, and uhm....commerce. We combined the best of both worlds in our Asian ceremony.
First, there are all the goodies the groom brought "to ask for the hands of the bride".
The bride's father provides welcome remarks.
We listen intently, of course. Technically, he can still say no at this juncture :)
We thank the deities and the ancestors, and ask for their blessings.
Then we wait.
"La de da, tatum dadum dee da..
Where is SHE?"
"Who are all these people? And why are they running around?"
"This feels like too important an occasion to be standing in my socks!"
"Why is John scratching his...?"
Then.....
The bride's procession begins with the cutest little girls west of the Rockies.
Finally....
the bride makes her appearance.
She's the shy one in red!
...much to the delight (relief?) of the gathered crowd.
...and symbolically handed over to the groom. Who blushes - not.
Check out John. Do you think he knows something we don't?
The tea ceremony & bling-blings complete the tradition.
The golden handcuffs go in like so...
Voila! It's done!
Hugs and kisses all around.
Look how happy (and relieved) her mother is.
Well, that wasn't too bad afterall!
What's next? Can we eat now?
